Skoda has started to produce new three-cylinder petrol engines at its main plant in Mlada Boleslav. The 1.0 MPI unit from the EA211 engine range is available in two power output levels (44 kW and 55 kW) and achieves excellent figures in weight, fuel consumption and
emissions.
"We have substantially expanded our car manufacturing capacities in Mlada Boleslav over the past few years. We are now gearing up to also increase the number of produced engines," said Michael Oeljeklaus, Skoda Member of the Board for Production and Logistics. "The kick-off of the EA 211 three-cylinder MPI engine is an important milestone in powertrain production for us in the Czech Republic, and proof of the strong dedication of our employees."
The start of production of the 1.0 MPI engine again underlines the high levels of Skodas technical expertise in powertrain production and development. Since 2001, Skoda has been making EA 111 1.2 HTP engines at its plant alongside EA 211 TSI and MPI engines.
