Federation Internationale des Societes d'Ingenieurs des Techniques de l'Automobile (FISITA) announced that its Executive Board has appointed Chris Mason as Chief Executive Officer, effective August 1, 2014. In his new role, Mason will also become a member
of the Board and serve as Company Secretary for FISITA (UK) Ltd. The appointment follows a rigorous search and selection process to find the right candidate to lead FISITA's continued growth in the rapidly evolving global automotive industry.
Mason takes on the role of Chief Executive Officer at FISITA following his incumbency as Managing Director at Motor Codes, a subsidiary of the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).
"We are delighted to welcome Chris to FISITA. His extensive industry experience and proven track record at SMMT and Motor Codes make him the ideal candidate to lead the team going forward. I am very much looking forward to working with Chris and the rest of the Executive Board to help develop and implement plans that will shape the future of FISITA. It's an exciting time for us all and marks the beginning of a new chapter in the rich history of the organisation," said Paul Mascarenas, President Elect of FISITA, Chief Technical Officer and Vice-President, Ford Motor Company.
Chris brings over 25 years experience in the automotive industry. Since joining SMMT in 2000, he has been a driving force behind the motor industry's approach to raising standards. He also successfully established government-backed initiatives that covered new car sales, service and repair and vehicle warranties.
Chris was awarded the Motor Trader Outstanding Achievement Award in 2012 in recognition of his contribution to the UK motor industry and he has regularly featured in the motor industry top 50 'movers and shakers' list. He is a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry, lives in west Essex with his family and enjoys music, golf and his vintage Porsche.
"I am thrilled and tremendously proud to have been asked to lead such an important organisation. FISITA is clearly held in high regard by its members and the international automotive sector. As Chief Executive I am looking forward to contributing to the continued success of the organisation and supporting the automotive engineering community," said Chris.
