Volvo Car Group (Volvo Cars) reports global retail sales of 26,998 cars for the month of August, an increase of 4.7 per cent compared to August 2012. The positive momentum continues in China where sales grew by 65.7 per cent, while Europe and overseas markets
supported the growth as well. For the period January to August, global sales were down by 2.5 per cent.
Demand for Volvo cars in China continues to grow strongly and retail sales in August were up by 65.7 per cent to 4,319 cars. The best-selling model was the Volvo XC60 while the recently launched Volvo V40 model supported the growth in China as well.
In Sweden, Volvo Cars continues to be the market leader. August retail sales were down 1.2 per cent to 2,981 cars, but Volvo Cars strengthened its market share nevertheless. The Volvo V60 and V70 models represented the best-selling models. Europe as a whole is now growing thanks to the V40 model and the European market share is up versus last year. Japan is another bright spot with a 50 per cent sales increase for the month of August.
