Suzuki's collection of Barry Sheene themed clothing has raised more than £11,000 for children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent, Sheene's chosen charity.
A cheque for £11,075.93 was handed over to the charity by Suzuki during a visit to Paul's House, one of CLIC Sargent's Homes
from Home, where families whose children are undergoing treatment for cancer can stay close to the hospital free of charge.
For each item sold in the range, 10 per cent of the price has been donated to the charity, which supports children diagnosed with cancer and their families with clinical, practical and emotional support.
The collection features a hoody and t-shirt in the Texaco Suzuki colours worn by Sheene in his back-to-back 500 GP title winning years, 1976 and 1977, complete with sponsor logos and Sheene's now iconic number '7'.
"We're so pleased to be able to hand over this money to CLIC Sargent, which was Barry Sheene's chosen charity. The clothes have proved very popular with Barry's loyal fans since the range was launched last year. It was a privilege to see the work of CLIC Sargent first hand at Paul's House and meet some of the wonderful people who support families coping with cancer," said Emma Gibbon, Suzuki GB Merchandiser.
"We're hugely grateful for this donation from Suzuki. It will help us continue to provide emotional, financial and practical support for children, young people and their families whose lives have been turned upside down by cancer," added CLIC Sargent's Tom Hazelden.
Barry Sheene began supporting CLIC Sargent after meeting Formula One's Eddie Jordan, who is a patron of the charity. Barry Sheene died from cancer in 2003.
