Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has recorded its best ever half-year sales performance in the UK. A total of 18,782 vehicles were registered to the end of June, representing a 23 per cent increase in sales compared to the 15,269 registrations over the same period last year.
This strong performance maintains the brand’s status as the UK's number one van importer and the number two light commercial vehicle manufacturer.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also registered an additional 1,974 camper vans and passenger carriers, up 10 per cent on 2012 (January-June 2012: 1,793).
All models enjoyed strong half-year sales in the UK, resulting in a market share of 13.7 per cent, up 1.5 per cent when compared to the same period last year.
The Transporter continued to be the most popular Volkswagen model having achieved an 18.3 per cent increase in sales. Customer deliveries of the Amarok were up by 79.8 per cent; Crafter deliveries rose by 16.1 per cent; while deliveries of the Caddy were up 25.1 per cent.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles also recorded its best ever June sales with 3,268 vehicles registered, up 6.3 per cent when compared with last year (June 2012: 3,073).
"It's been a very strong start to the year with record sales and very positive demand signals," said Alex Smith, Director of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.
"Demand for our products remains at an all-time high, not just because of their outstanding quality but also because strong residual values and service support from our dedicated van centre network means they make sound business sense, too. Customer orders for Transporter, Crafter and Amarok are at record levels while demand for Caddy is up significantly year-to-date."
