With effect from June 1, several key management changes will take place within Mercedes-Benz UK.
Following Andrew Mallery's appointment to Marketing Director, Passenger Cars, Ian Dutfield, currently Director, Customer Services Commercial Vehicles, will become
Commercial Operations Director at Mercedes-Benz World. In the past, Ian was heavily involved in the creation of Mercedes-Benz World, and his wide experience and passion for the brand makes him the ideal person to work within Andrew's team in this role at our brand centre.
With Ian moving to a new role, the position of Director, Customer Services Commercial Vehicles is to be taken by David Joyce. David comes to the role with a deep understanding of the expectations and requirements of the company's commercial vehicle customers and dealer network through his experience as Head of Training, and previously as Technical Manager. As the commercial vehicle business gears itself up for significant growth, David is ideally placed to build on the momentum gained in recent years.
The role of Head of Training will be taken up by Angela Shepherd. After 10 successful years as Director, Customer Service Mercedes-Benz Cars, Angela's in-depth knowledge of retail operations, gained in both her current and previous roles, make her an excellent fit to further develop first-class innovative training. In addition, Angela will develop the size and scope of the company's industry-leading Apprentice Academy and champion the importance of life-long learning to Mercedes-Benz retailers and dealers.
Sally Jones, currently Head of Product Management Passenger Cars is promoted to Director, Customer Services Mercedes-Benz Cars. Sally's abilities and reputation, developed during her long standing career with the organisation show she will make an excellent contribution to this important area of the business as it continues to work towards meeting its sales growth targets.
To support the continued growth in passenger cars and further strengthen the excellent work that the team has already seen in the biggest roll-out of new products in Mercedes-Benz history, Nikhil Ondhia will join as Product Management Director, reporting to Gary Savage, Managing Director Passenger Cars. Nikhil brings a wealth of planning and product experience, most recently as National Manager, Sales and Production Planning, in Mercedes-Benz Canada.
Kevin West has been appointed to Group Aftersales Director Mercedes-Benz Retail Group, reporting to Mike Whittington, Managing Director Mercedes-Benz Retail Group. Kevin has played a crucial role in delivering the significant growth in Passenger Cars sales over the last few years. Kevin's promotion gives a further opportunity for development, and Jason Allbutt, currently District Sales Manager Passenger Cars, will be promoted to the role of National Sales Manager.
"We've had a record-breaking start to 2013 with new car sales growing faster than any other premium manufacturer. New vans, trucks and customer service initiatives mean we're offering even more attractive products and services to new and existing customers," said Marcus Breitschwerdt, President and CEO, Mercedes-Benz UK.
"The time was right to make some senior management changes, to help us increase the service we give our UK customers. I'm committed to nurturing and encouraging the talent of our people, and the appointments announced today are some of the more visible changes we're making to our UK business."
