Infiniti reports decrease of 25.4 per cent in May 2013 US sales

As Infiniti prepares for the late summer introduction of its highly anticipated, all-new Q50 luxury sports sedan, the company reported US sales of 7,899 units in May, a decrease of 25.4 per cent versus 10,592 units a year earlier. Infiniti sales of 43,119 for
the first five months of 2013 are down 1.9 per cent.

The Infiniti JX, which had 2,952 sales in May, had its best month since it went on sale in March 2012. Sales of the 7-passenger luxury crossover increased 10.2 per cent for the month, and are up 134.8 per cent so far in 2013.

"With the world's first Back-Up Collision Intervention system and easy access to the spacious third row, the Infiniti JX remains one of the most popular vehicles in its class," said Ben Poore, Vice-President, Infiniti Americas. "And we expect this trend to continue throughout the summer as the 2014 model gets a new name of QX60 and a Hybrid model joins the line."

Infiniti retailers are also gearing up for summer sales of the all-new Infiniti Q50. Offering the world's first Direct Adaptive Steering that provides quicker response than conventional, mechanical systems and allows for driver customisation of steering feel and input, the Q50 sets the design, performance and technology direction for a new generation of Infiniti vehicles.
