Pandora, Kaliki and TuneIn Radio - all mark new ways for customers to bring their favorite smartphone apps into their vehicles with simple voice commands.
"We've been looking forward to bringing Ford SYNC AppLink to this dynamic region, and we're excited to kick things off with three fantastic apps," said Ed Pleet, Director, Connected Services for Ford in Asia Pacific, Africa and Europe. "With these apps, we're able to show-off some of the capabilities that AppLink customers will be able to enjoy - and this is just the beginning."
With Ford SYNC AppLink, customers can control applications on their smartphones from the driver's seat using voice controls, through the Ford SYNC voice-activated connectivity system. The first three apps available in Asia Pacific will give drivers voice control access to some of the world's most popular internet services.
Pandora: Pandora is free personalised internet radio. Simply enter a favourite artist, track, comedian or genre, and Pandora will create a personalised station that plays their music and more like it. Rate songs by giving thumbs-up and thumbs-down feedback and add variety to further refine your stations, discover new music and help Pandora play only music you love.
TuneIn Radio: TuneIn lets people listen to the world's music, sports, talk and news from wherever they are, with over 70,000 AM, FM, HD and Internet radio stations and more than two million on-demand programs streaming from every continent. Kaliki: Kaliki is a smartphone app for Android devices that curates the top news stories from major newspapers and magazines and provides an audio version for on-demand playback in the vehicle. The Kaliki Audio Newsstand app lets drivers of AppLink-enabled vehicles to listen to their favorite news and magazine stories without taking their eyes off the road.
Along with the apps from Pandora, Kaliki and TuneIn Radio, Ford has also announced the AppLink Catalog app, through which customers around the world will be able to more easily discover and download new AppLink-enabled apps. The AppLink Catalog app organises and lists all available apps, and automatically connects customers to the app store of their choice for downloading.
"As we continue to introduce more new apps, the AppLink Catalog app will be a huge help for AppLink end users," said Pleet. "And we think developers will love it, too, since it makes it easier for their apps to be found in the vast app ecosystem. It's an example of how we're working hard to be at the forefront of developing interactive technologies that enhance the driving experience in safe and smart ways."
