Ford India sold 5,993 vehicles in combined domestic wholesales and exports in May 2013 as macroeconomic factors such as high interest rates continued to affect consumer sentiment.
Exports rose 18 per cent to 1,991 units from 1,693 units last year.
Domestic wholesales accounted for 4,002 units in May, compared with 6,036 units during the same period last year.
"Despite the difficult industry situation we are confident of the long-term potential of the Indian market, Stronger export sales are a clear sign that our One Ford plan is working with more products that consumers want and value," said Anurag Mehrotra, Vice-President, Sales, Ford India. "With our aggressive expansion plans and the introduction of exciting new global products and technologies in India, we're reiterating our commitment to the region."
