Collection highlights
The Scuderia Ferrari racing team is the inspirational heart and soul of this new watch brand. These new watches are dedicated to enthusiasts who share passion, commitment and the will to reach new and challenging targets. The collection is inspired by the intricate design details found on Scuderia Ferrari racing cars. Incorporating technological materials like scratch-resistant mineral crystals and high-tech composite cases, these timepieces are powered by precise quartz and automatic engines to deliver uncompromising performance. Paying bold tribute to the Ferrari racing team's signature colour - and emulating Scuderia Ferrari's pioneering footsteps in technological innovation - Scuderia Ferrari timepieces have super luminous red dial accents to enhance readability in low-light conditions.
With powerful collection names - Pit Crew, Lap Time, Race Day, Paddock, Scuderia, and Heritage - SFO captures the 'straight to the racetrack' brand DNA, and conjure the thrill of sophisticated Ferrari Grand Prix single-seaters moving dynamically through the sharp turns on the Fiorano Circuit.
Also showcased at the Baselworld brand launch was the Scuderia Ferrari Gran Premio Worldtime Limited Edition Automatic, which will debut this fall in a special issue of 100 numbered pieces. Powered by a self-winding mechanical Dubois-Depraz 201 movement, it is designed with a unique time zone display featuring Ferrari's headquarters in Maranello and seven famous Grand Prix race locations - Barcelona, Abu Dhabi, Sepang, Shanghai, Yeongam, Melbourne and Sao Paulo. The Gran Premio Worldtime is a tribute to great timepieces and automotive design and is engineered for winning performance.
A special collection needs a special setting to be displayed. At Baselworld 2013 the Scuderia Ferrari Orologi was shown to the public in a dedicated booth with curved sculptural forms designed to evoke the contours of Ferrari's first road car, the 125 S, while the glass supports and curved panels symbolised the flow of wind over a race car's speeding silhouette. The combination of frosted and transparent glass suggested the engine smoke associated with motor racing. Infused with signature Ferrari racing colours - signature red, asphalt grey and the iconic yellow Scuderia Ferrari logo - the space reflected a racetrack aesthetic combined with the look and feel of a 'high-end' industrial garage. As in Scuderia Ferrari racing machines, this innovative space was designed to define the perfect fusion of form and function and capture the essence of a winning combination in the watch world too.
