Nissan announced the appointment of Santiago Castro as Sales and Exports Director for Nissan Latin America and the Caribbean (NLAC). He will report to Jose Roman, Managing Director for Nissan Latin America and the Caribbean.
Nissan's Latin America and the Caribbean
division includes 37 countries and during fiscal year 2012 presented sales of over 125,000 vehicles.
Castro will replace Takahiro Yano, who recently returned to Japan after completing a four-year assignment.
Santiago joins Nissan after more than 20 years of experience in the Latin American auto industry, specifically in sales, after-sales, fleets and marketing. He held a number of positions in Ecuador and Venezuela. Most recently, he was Commercial Director at GM Ecuador.
"The Latin American and Caribbean region is very important to Nissan due to its relevant growth potential. Santiago Castro's ample experience will be of use to attain our regional long term expansion goals," said Jose Roman.
Santiago has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Polytechnic School in Quito, Ecuador, as well as a master's degree in Administration from Universidad San Francisco in Quito.
