Continental's new ContiWinterContact TS850 winter tyre has been declared the Editor's Choice 2012 by motoring magazine, Auto Express. Expert product testers Kim Adams and Jamie Fretwell chose their 20 favorite products of 2012 from a range of car accessories from tools
to technology and tyres to cleaning kits.
"Tyres rarely make it on to our lists of favourites. We test dozens of them every year, and there's generally not much between the top performers. But this Continental winter tyre grabbed our attention with a string of superb results," said Auto Express.
"Impressive stuff, as excellence in one area usually means a trade-off elsewhere. But not with the TS850: it's top in wet, dry and snowy conditions," the publication continued.
The car magazine tested top winter brands to assess their handling and braking capabilities on wet, dry icy and snowy surfaces. Auto Express also considered aquaplaning resistance, cabin noise, fuel economy and price.
"We are delighted to have been commended by Auto Express. The ContiWinterContact TS850 has taken the winter market by storm. In a string of tyre tests in Europe, the tyre has consistently beaten the best to take top spot. This award from Auto Express is another testament to its outstanding performance," said Peter Robb, Brand Manager at Continental.
The ContiWinterContact TS850, for medium sized cars, has a wealth of innovative technical features which lead to this exceptional performance. This means that the tyre offers motorists even better grip on wintry roads, as well as shorter braking distances in the wet, extended mileage and a further reduction on rolling resistance over its predecessor.
