"We are proud to be associated with this initiative. As largest car manufacturer our objective through events like AWIM Jet Toy & Skimmer Olympics is to connect with students in their formative years and provide them an out-of-classroom experience to understand the basics of science and engineering," said I.V. Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Engineering, Maruti Suzuki India Limited.
In the competition, students were provided a kit containing raw material to build a toy car. Once the students had built the toy car, the car was scrutinised on various parameters like distance traveled, weight carrying capacity, speed and accuracy, jet propulsion, friction, air resistance, force and design which form the core scientific concepts of automobile engineering. A distinguished panel of judges from the automobile industry further judged these toy cars on parameters such as innovation, creativity, communication, ideas and presentation.
