Fisker Automotive helps 500,000 recover after Hurricane Sandy

Fisker Automotive is helping with disaster relief efforts for the 500,000 people living in the Delmarva region by turning its Wilmington factory into a safe harbor for Delmarva Power utility trucks and repair crews.

More than 350 personnel from as far away as Florida are manning
nearly 300 utility and tree-trimming trucks stationed in the 40 acre parking lot at Fisker's Wilmington Assembly Plant. This has been their home base as crews have been working to restore power and clear roads after one of the most devastating and costly storms in US history.

Support for the region is pouring in from all over the country. Tree removal crews are in from Pennsylvania and Florida Power & Light sent crews to help restore power.

Fisker Automotive and Delmarva Power partnered to assist with emergency preparations should a disaster like Sandy hit.

"As part of the Delaware community we will always do whatever we can to help our neighbors. Our thoughts go out to the people affected by the hurricane," said Henrik Fisker, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Fisker Automotive.

The 3.2-million sq ft facility withstood the storm relatively unscathed. With its expansive parking lots it is one of the best places in the area to stage an emergency response team.

"When a storm of this magnitude hits the region, it takes a community response to work together for the best possible outcome. We're grateful to Fisker for its role in that much-needed community response," said Bridget Shelton, Delmarva Power spokesperson.
