Deliveries of Volvo branded trucks in October decreased by 10 per cent

Deliveries of Volvo branded trucks in October decreased by 10 per cent to 10,051 vehicles compared with the same month last year.

In Europe, deliveries decreased by 6 per cent to 4,350 trucks in total compared to October last year. The current slowdown in economic
activity and uncertainty about the future business climate in the region is clearly having a negative impact on demand for trucks. Decisions have been made to lower production of Volvo trucks in Europe by removing shifts and using stop days for the remainder of the year to meet the lower demand seen in the third quarter. 

October deliveries in Asia amounted to 1,211 units in total, a decrease of 15 per cent compared to the same month last year.

October deliveries in North America decreased 14 per cent to 2,144 vehicles in comparison with the same month last year. Demand in the long-haul segment has slowed, symptomatic of the continued overall economic uncertainty.

Deliveries for South America decreased 13 per cent in October compared with the same month last year. The decrease is primarily a result of the slow economic growth thus far in 2012. However, there are signs that the Brazilian government stimulus package has gained traction and demand is improving.
