Victory for JD Classics at the Goodwood Revival

Jaguar Heritage Racing, leading classic car specialist JD Classics won the first ever night race in Goodwood Revival history, the Freddie March Memorial Trophy.

Strong podium finishes continued into the weekend when the E-type driven by John Young and Bobby
Verdon-Roe finished an impressive second in the one-hour RAC TT Celebration race, ahead of the Ferrari 250 GTO driven by ex-Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi and racing driver Mark Hales.

For the Freddie March Memorial Trophy night race, John Young shared the ex-Fangio C-type with Jaguar Heritage works driver Alex Buncombe. To celebrate its 60th anniversary, this was an extended 90-minute two-driver race for cars built between 1952-1955 in the spirit of the Goodwood Nine Hour races.

Historically, Jaguar C-types lead the Goodwood Nine Hour races, but they were defeated in each case by rival manufacturer Aston Martin. For the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, the 'works' team executed a seamless driver change and the C-type performed faultlessly for a punishing 90-minutes with Alex winning by over 60-seconds and setting the fastest lap, beating period rivals Aston Martin, Ferrari and Maserati in the process. 

The colossal Mk VII, raced in the two-part St. Mary's Trophy by JD Classics' Derek Hood and 24 Hour Le Mans driver Andy Wallace, behaved impeccably, finishing consistently in each race while other competitors failed to finish due to mechanical failure. 

"JD Classics' level of preparation meant the C-type behaved faultlessly for 90-minutes of hard competition and it was fantastic for John and I to win the first Goodwood Revival night race. As a Jaguar Heritage works driver, it was a privilege bringing home the success which the original works team yearned for during the Goodwood Nine Hour races," said Alex Buncombe, Jaguar Heritage works driver.
