Volkswagen opens up new perspectives for specialists from Southern Europe

The Volkswagen Group is now offering a new program for young people from Southern Europe, offering them an opportunity to kick-start a career with Europe's largest automaker. The 'StartUp Europe' trainee program is tailor-made for
engineers wanting to gain international experience after obtaining their degree.

"Initially, Volkswagen is targeting this program at graduates from Spain and Europe," says Dr. Horst Neumann, Board member of Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft responsible for Human Resources. "Even with good qualifications, many young people in Southern Europe have problems with entering a career in their home country. Our program offers good prospects, with the possibility of permanent employment following two years of training. Volkswagen is growing strongly throughout the world and is therefore highly interested in young people who have gained international experience at an early stage."

The 'StartUp Europe' trainee program started this summer. Successful applicants will initially be employed for two years. In the first two months, they will work in the appropriate subsidiary in Spain or Portugal, followed by up to 21 months with a Group company in Germany.

The two-year program also includes seminars, language courses, dialog with trainees and support by mentors. Following the completion of the program, continued employment is possible.

The program is extremely attractive for young graduates from Spain and Portugal. More than 1,800 applications have already been received for the 43 vacancies. For 13 participants, the program has already started. They are due to be joined by the others in October and November.
