On August 20 and 21 'The Duke of Edinburgh Cup', the Golf Cup of The Duke of Edinburgh Charitable Foundation, was held at 'La Reserva' Golf Club of Sotogrande. Maserati was one of the main sponsors of the Spanish round of the tournament.
The winners, Maraa
Lopez Elola in the female category and Pedro Jose Padilla Garrido in the male category, will participate in the World Final of 36 holes which will take place in the UK from October 1-4, 2012. The winners will also partake in a friendly tournament at the Royal Household of Windsor Castle, at the express invitation of Her Majesty the Queen of England. The event will end with a gala dinner at Windsor Castle itself in the presence of HRH Prince Edward the Earl of Wessex.
The tournament, organised in 10 countries, is aimed at raising funds for the 'International Golf Charity Ltd.', a charity sponsored by HRH Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh, which funds partnerships focused on helping children and youth in situations of need.
At the end of the Spanish tournament a cheque for €21,000 was presented to the Foundation, which has raised more than five million dollars over the years.
During the tournament participants had the opportunity to appreciate and drive the latest addition to the Maserati range, the new GranTurismo Sport, which offers increased performance and an elegant sporty restyling. Its 4.7-litre V8 now delivers 460 hp and 520 nm of torque and goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds (4.8 seconds for the MC Auto Shift version). Intensifying the new sporty look is a new front bumper and new headlamps equipped with the latest generation LED DRL technology, completely redesigned seats and a sportier steering wheel.
