Ford Thailand announced its all-time best monthly sales performance with overall June retail sales jumping 71 per cent year-over-year to 5,031 units. The record performance, which topped the company's best-ever sales in May, was driven by all-time best monthly sales for
both the Ford Ranger Pick-up and Ford Fiesta subcompact.
"This all-time monthly record shows the terrific response from customers to our new, world-class Thai-built vehicles, including Fiesta and all-new Ranger," said Peter Fleet, President, Ford ASEAN. "The product-led transformation of our business continues to gain momentum with each new global One Ford vehicle that we introduce."
The class-defining all-new Ford Ranger continued to gain traction as a clear segment leader with retail sales that soared 280 per cent from the previous generation Ranger in the same month a year ago to 2,354 units.
Strong demand has helped drive overall customer bookings for the all-new Ford Ranger in Thailand to more than 25,000 units.
"The all-new Ranger is proving to be an extraordinary success, and has certainly raised the bar in the Pick-up segment with its class-defining combination of versatility, capability, performance, quality, comfort and fuel efficiency," said Saroj Kiatfuengfoo, Vice-President, Marketing, Sales and Service, Ford Thailand.
The class-leading Ford Fiesta also delivered a record performance in June with overall retail sales increasing more than 25 per cent to 2,501 units – representing its best-ever month in Thailand.
The exceptional month for Fiesta was again led by strong demand for the Fiesta 1.5L Ti-VCT with PowerShift transmission, which qualifies for the government's First Car Owner policy, as well as continued strength in demand for the high-series Fiesta 1.6L Ti-VCT with PowerShift models.
"The introduction of our Fiesta 1.5 TiVCT Sport with six-speed PowerShift transmission has given another boost to overall sales of the class-leading Fiesta, which continues to offer customers an unmatched package in its segment of quality, safety, fuel efficiency and smart technologies," added Saroj.
Despite supply disruptions from the Thai floods at the start of the year, Ford's overall retail sales through June have now increased 44 per cent year-over-year to 21,369 units, boosted by the successful launch of all-new Ranger and continued strong demand for the popular Ford Fiesta.
"The momentum we have achieved through the first six months of the year will be given another significant boost with the official market launch of our all-new Focus next month," added Saroj.
