Volvo Buses has received an encouraging response for registrations to the Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award 2012. Entries received are coming in from a range of stakeholders including citizen groups, NGO communities, academic institutes and
more. The ideas are looking at solving and/or addressing diverse areas of problem in the transport & mobility scenario. Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award is an initiative by Volvo Buses to recognise efforts in the area of sustainable mobility. The total prize money is INR 1-million. The winner will get INR 700,000 and the runner up will be awarded with INR 300,000.
Volvo Buses has instituted the Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award to support innovative solutions & efforts being made in the area of sustainable transport. The objective is also to create greater awareness among public about the benefits of adopting sustainable transport systems, which can help discourage the use of private vehicles thereby reducing the road congestion.
Groups, organisations and institutes working towards creating and implementing 'innovative solutions' in the broad area of supporting sustainable transport can register themselves on www.volvobuses.co.in for the second season of the Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award. The last date for sending in nominations is August 31, 2012 and last date for submission of entries in September 10, 2012.
The awards are given during the annual Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week Seminar conducted by Volvo Buses under the patronage of Swedish Ambassador to India.
