At a ceremony held in Plzen in the Czech Republic last week, the first three of 35 Volvo FL trucks passed through the historical Pilsner Urquell main gate to be handed over to representatives from Prazdroj Breweries, symbolising the start of a co-operation between
Prazdroj Breweries and Volvo Trucks.
Last spring, Prazdroj Breweries – one of the leading brewing companies in Central Europe - decided to upgrade their fleet and choose Volvo Trucks as a supplier. The total solution offer provided by Volvo, including vehicle parameters and the most comprehensive and practical support services, as well as the environmental aspects of vehicle operation, was considered by the Customer as the best choice for their needs. In addition, the well-developed Volvo Trucks' service network in the Czech Republic, with one sole partner over the whole market, was also considered a major advantage.
All vehicles chosen by Prazdroj Breweries are Volvo FL-240 18-tonne trucks with day cabs. They are all equipped with Dynafleet telematics for optimal fuel efficiency and will be maintained under Volvo Gold Service Contracts.
All 35 Volvo FL trucks ordered will be used for distributing beer from Prazdroj's breweries & depot’s to retailers, restaurants & pubs throughout the whole country.
With the purchase of new Volvo FL vehicles, Prazdroj sees huge possibilities for both efficiency increases in their beer distribution as well as considerable savings in fuel consumption and lowered emissions.
"By operating the new trucks, we will, amongst other things, achieve a reduction of our environmental impact. Thanks also to the possibility of loading up to 18 pallets; we will reduce the number of trips, which will result in overall fuel savings and lower carbon emissions from our operations. It simply represents another part of our strategy for sustainable development," says Drahomira Mandikova, Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Pilsner Urquell.
Robert Grozdanovski, Managing Director for Volvo Trucks in the Czech Republic said, "We are extremely pleased that the total solutions our team prepared was chosen by Prazdroj for their beer distribution. Their decision gives us further energy to continue developing our company and our services to the benefit of our customers. It also confirms that our aftermarket strategy is right and is now starting to bear fruit."
"In addition we gives us enormous pride to help distribute Pilsner Urquell beer in this beer-loving country, something we hope other operators might follow," he continues.
