Ford Motor Company and Dana Holding Corporation were honored this week with the 2012 Automotive News PACE Innovative Partnership Award. Ford and Dana were recognised for collaborating and bringing to market Dana’s new line of Long active and passive warm-up technology.
Ford worked with Dana on this unique technology which reduces complexity, increases the system’s response time, reduces emissions and delivers fuel savings of up to 4 per cent by combining the thermal bypass valve with the active warm-up unit. This technology was first introduced on the 2012 Ford Edge followed by the 2013 Ford Taurus.
“This technology is a win for our customers. Not only does it improve cold-weather shift quality, but it also improves fuel efficiency,” said Brian Wolfe, Ford Director of Transmission and Driveline Engineering. “We are proud to share the award with Dana.”
“This recognition affirms to us that we are creating market-driven, innovative technologies and truly partnering with our customers to deliver these breakthrough innovations to the marketplace,” said Roger Wood, Dana President and Chief Executive Officer. “To have earned this award with an important customer such as Ford is a real honor.”
