In the wake of the success of the 2011 edition held in Italy at San Martino di Castrozza, Rome and Etna, the Fiat Freestyle Team Picture Awards is getting underway again. It is an international tour with photography contest that will lead four snowboarding
teams, one skateboarding team, one surfing team and one BMX team on a journey between the Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, crossing through the French Alps and Pyrenees.
The official Fiat Freestyle Team fleet made up of two Fiat Qubos, three Fiat Doblos, a brand-new Fiat Qubo Trekking Nitro Kit, produced from the partnership with the number one US snowboard manufacturer, and two Fiat Ducatos will accompany the riders and staff on every leg of the tour. The Fiat Ducato is a vehicle that stands out from the crowd owing to its original lines, balanced volumes and outstanding versatility.
Big names from the international action sports scene will take part in the Fiat Freestyle Team Picture Awards, including - the Fiat Freestyle Team riders Stefano Munari, Filippo Kratter (snowboard), Daniel Cardone (skateboard) and Roberto D’Amico (surfing); Simon Gruber, Manuel Pietropoli (snowboard); Dominik Wagner, Aluan Ricciardi, Andrej Marincic, Ziga Rokovec, members of the Nitro Road Warriors snowboarding team; Juergen Horrwarth, Fiat Freestyle Team Germany skater; Simone 'Kid' Baracco (BMX) and the young international surfing champion Leonardo Fioravanti.
Divided into their respective teams, each one accompanied non-stop by a photographer or camera operator, the riders left Turin on March 25 for Vars, France to follow the road trip that will take them into the Pyrenees on their way to Barcelona and Bilbao. The final days of the tour will be spent in Hossegor, the cult European surfing location, and at the Quiksilver Boardriders House, the picturesque villa in 'Landaise' style where the training camps of the Quiksilver athletes are held and where all of the teams will meet to wind-up a magnificent and unique travel experience.
Shooting sessions will take place during the legs and transfers from one location to the next. The best photos, taken by exceptional photographers such as Matt Georges, will be judged by an exclusive panel that will select the winning Fiat Freestyle Team Picture Awards team. The best photographs will then be displayed in a travelling photographic exhibition that will pass through a number of European cities.
