Kia makes Reading a greener town

Kia Motors staff got their green fingers busy planting trees in Reading as a part of their ongoing commitment to the Trees for Cities charity. The planting saw 11 head office staff take part in a corporate volunteering day to help the environment.

Eight Elm trees were planted to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games as part of a long term tree planting strategy to enhance recreation grounds and improve existing tree stock.

“It’s great to see so many of our employees volunteering for such a worthwhile cause. The importance of green spaces in towns and cities is often forgotten, so it makes us all extremely proud to know we are contributing to make a difference to urban areas. We hope the people of Reading are proud of their new Elm trees and we look forward to making a difference to other areas around the UK in the coming months," commented Michael Cole, Managing Director of Kia Motors (UK) Limited.

Working in association with their environmental partner Trees for Cities, Kia Motors is seeking to make a significant difference to local areas by involving employees and dealerships with projects across the UK. Trees for Cities was set up in 1993 and is an environmental and social charity that works with communities to plant trees in cities and areas that need it most; delivering community-focused tree planting projects in deprived urban areas.
