With matching employee donations, total contributions are expected to reach $100,000.
Some of the funds also will support relief efforts in other areas impacted by the tornadoes, including southern Ohio where Sharonville Plant employees are volunteering their time to assist with rebuilding efforts.
“Our hearts go out to our neighbors in the wake of these destructive tornadoes,” said Jim Vella, President, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “We are ready to help those impacted by this tragedy.”
The American Red Cross and Ford have been active partners for more than 30 years. Ford’s support of the Dare to Care Food Bank includes the recent donation of a refrigerated F-550 truck through its Partnership for Hunger Relief with Newman’s Own and Feeding America.
Ford Motor Company, through its two Louisville manufacturing operations and through the Operation Goodwill partnership between Ford Motor Company Fund and area Ford and Lincoln dealerships is expected to contribute more than $1.5-million to organisations in the greater Louisville area during 2011 and 2012. The goal is to address local needs, especially in the areas of education, driving safety and community life.
