The 2012 Citroen Creative Awards presentation ceremony took place at Citroen’s international showcase, C_42, on the Champs-Elysees in Paris. Ten prize winners received awards for their creative and unique contributions in the global competition. The
awards attracted 802 entries from 87 different countries, with both experienced and amateur designers and artists taking part.
Organised into three main categories, the ‘Idea Contest’ focused on the travelling comfort of future Citroen cars; the ‘Video Contest’ on DS5’s fresh take on premium vehicle design; and the ‘Style Contest’ on the creation of an outfit inspired by Citroen DS3.
Each competition was judged by a panel of experts and personalities presided over by Marc Duval-Destin, Director of Research and Advanced Engineering at the PSA Peugeot Citroen. Among the eclectic mix of jury members were; Iain Percy, two-time Olympic gold medal winning British yachtsman; Xu Qun, Chief Editor of Car and Driver China; Carlo Antonelli, Director of Wired Italia; Augustin Paluel Marmont, co-founder of the Michel et Augustin food brand; Fernando Calmon, Brazilian motoring journalist; Xavier Duchemin, Director of Marketing and Communication at Citroen; Thierry Metroz, Style Director at Citroen; and Thomas d’Haussy, Product Director at Citroen.
Winning the ‘Idea Contest’ was ‘Junior Driver’ by Wouter Van Vugt, a Dutch Graphic Designer. He created a 3D simulator that enables children to drive ‘live’ and to compare themselves to the adult driver controlling the car. In second place, was ‘Citroen Baby Care’ by Arnaud Tilmant, a Belgian vehicle expert. The idea was to create a travel pack for babies (musical mobile, bottle heater, etc.) to be fitted to a car. In third place was ‘Cocoon’ by Damien Mesgard. The French logistics employee transformed his car into a real life spa, featuring massages, lights and scented air fresheners.
In the ‘Video Contest’, ‘Audace’ by Francois Ladevie, a French Designer came in first position, followed by ‘Creative Lines’ by Mariano Fain, an Argentinean TV Producer. Finishing in the top three was ‘Funky Lab’ by Ognyan Bozhilov, a Bulgarian designer. All the videos can be viewed online at: http://www.citroencreativeawards.com/video
