It is with great sadness that HPI announces the death of Industry Relations Director, Alan Bishop, at the age of 57.
Alan joined HPI in 2004, moving from the National Caravan Council (NCC) where he held the post of Director General from 1996.
During his time at HPI, Alan became a well-known
and respected figure across the motor, finance and leisure markets, forging industry and Government relationships to successfully influence best practice and increase the protection of used car buyers, motorists and the motor retail community.
“Alan has been an inspiration to all of his colleagues here at HPI, and earned the greatest respect for his approachability, knowledge and leadership. He always provided invaluable guidance on all matters. His wealth of experience has not only benefited many within HPI, at every level, but a broad spectrum of businesses, as well as the Police, industry bodies, Government Agencies and the motoring public," said, Daniel Burgess, Managing Director, HPI.
“Alan was a true gentleman and industrialist and will be greatly missed by all those who had the pleasure of working and dealing with him. Our thoughts are with his wife and family.”
Prior to HPI, Alan worked with the NCC and became the youngest (at 43) serving member to be promoted to Director General.
Alan leaves behind his wife Gwen, and two children Christopher and Sinead.
Industry friends and colleagues are invited to a celebration of Alan’s life at Crane Valley Golf Club, Verwood at 4 PM on Tuesday, February 28.
