Johnston Controls Batteries has appointed a new Managing Director to develop new market share growth strategies in the UK and Irish aftermarket.
Mike Hall becomes Country Manager of Johnson Controls Batteries Ltd, with overall sales, finance and
operational responsibility for distribution of Varta car, truck, motorcycle and leisure batteries, plus supporting products and services such as the new Varta start-stop service programme, to the independent aftermarket.
A key feature of the company’s future strategy is the anticipated growth in replacement batteries for the start-stop market. Vehicles with this technology, which rely on advanced AGM and EFB batteries, are expected to account for over 70 per cent of all new vehicles produced in Europe by 2015.
Johnson Controls is the world’s leading manufacturer of these batteries, with 80 per cent of the European OE market. Mike will also take charge of the company’s Recycling Initiative – the ecosteps programme.
Prior to his new appointment, Mike was Sales Director for Europe and Africa within the Building Efficiency Division of Johnson Controls.
