Mazda dealer wins ‘Best Sales Team’ AM Award

Mazda’s North East London dealer Romford Mazda scooped a prestigious accolade at the annual Automotive Management ‘AM Awards 2012’ held at the ICC in Birmingham last night – winning the ‘Sales Team of the Year’ category.

“I’m truly delighted that
all the hard work of our team over the last year has been recognised with an AM Award,” comments Amarjit Shokar, Dealer Principal for Romford Mazda. “As a business, we pride ourselves in empowering our staff and inspiring them to go the extra mile in order to give customers the very best service we can. Everything we do is based around these guiding principles. In tough economic times you have to work harder and better and every member of our staff appreciates that there is no ‘I’ or ‘U’ in team.”

The Sales Team of the Year (New or Used Cars) category required a business to demonstrate that it works effectively as a team and acknowledges the power of individuals working together towards a common goal – such as generating long-term strategic performance improvements or focusing on specific tactical targets in a burst of activity.

Romford Mazda was one of several Mazda dealers to perform well in the latest AM Awards. Mazda’s Buckinghamshire dealer Lodge Garage was runner-up in the Sales Team of the Year category, while Mazda dealers short-listed as finalists in two other categories included Best Dealership (Romford Mazda) and Best Fleet Dealership (Norton Way Mazda).

Mazda UK Managing Director, Jeremy Thomson commented, “This AM Award recognises the excellent team spirit created at Romford Mazda which enables its staff to deliver exceptional service, reflecting the high standards of customer satisfaction which our dealer network regularly achieves across the country.”

“In 2011, Mazda topped the automotive sector of the UK Customer Satisfaction Index for the third time, with a score of 83.3 per cent – well above the car industry average. This was another strong testament to the quality of our products, our customer service philosophy and the ability of dealers, such as Romford Mazda, to focus on delivering a professional service ensuring that Mazda ownership is a truly satisfying experience,” added Thomson.

Last year, the award-winning Romford Mazda dealership, based in Collier Row Lane, continued to prove its value to consumers by achieving two local landmarks. It was approved under the Havering ‘Buy with Confidence’ scheme, which helps members of the public find businesses they can trust – and it was shortlisted for Business of the Year category in the 2011 Havering Business Awards. 

Amarjit Shokar added, “Being approved by Havering for inclusion in the ‘Buy with Confidence’ scheme proves that we run a business that is honest, fair and provides customers with a service that exceeds their expectations – not just when it comes to selling cars, but also when the same customers later return for car maintenance or repair. More and more new customers coming to our showroom are acting on the personal recommendation of friends or colleagues who have experienced Romford Mazda’s service.”

This isn’t the first time that Romford Mazda has been acknowledged by award wins. It has previously been awarded ‘Most Improved Business’ in the 2009 Motor Trader awards, the same year that Motor Trader also named Amarjit Shokar Dealer Principal of the Year.
